    • Johnson got the gig via auditions the band held almost immediately after Scott’s death.
    • They started working on the album just 3 days after Scott's funeral and it was released only 5 months after his death.
  • 2nd best selling album of all time (50m+ copies sold), behind Thriller.

  • Came after the commercial breakthrough of Highway To Hell (1979).
  • The all black cover was designed as a “sign of mourning” for Scott.
    • They wanted to have the title in all black as well but their label insisted the text be bordered in grey.
